Royal Yacht Britannia

Having rested, overnight, at Braid Hills Hotel it was but a short journey to Leith, in Edinburgh, to see The Royal Yacht Britannia which is in permanent dock.  Having been retired from service a few years ago it is now open to the public for viewing.  Unfortunately were it is situated means that it is impossible, unless one is able to walk on water, to get a photo of the whole of the yacht.  So we had to content ourselves with pictures of the interior and part of the exterior. It was great to walk around the yacht, and to think about all the formal dinners and entertaining that had taken place on the yacht, with many heads of state, over the 50 or so years that it was in service.  What follows in the next few posts are the photos taken on board. You will see many rooms and even a car in situ on the yacht.  Nice to be able to take your car on a sailing trip and to be able to use it wherever you might weigh anchor.

As well as the rooms used by Her Majesty and the family we also have pics of the areas used by the crew.
