Alnwick Castle

After resting overnight we began our travels northwards, to Northumbria.  There we visited Alnwick Castle which, according to their website http://www.alnwickcastle.com/ has been 'home to the Duke of Northumberland's family, the Percys, through over 700 years of drama, intrigue, tragedy and romance'.

As you can see it is a very imposing building.

The Castle and its grounds have been set up very well for visitors.  Including some fun for children, learning to ride broomsticks.  Some scenes from Harry Potter movies were filmed there.  Having shown a first impression of the castle the following posts will be further photos taken, of the castle and grounds.
