And so to Culzean Castle. I had first visited Culzean in about 1985 or 1986 and had very fond memories of it. So it was good to have the opportunity to visit again. Everything was beautifully presented, and it was the warmest day of our trip, so just perfect to spend a lot of time in the grounds of the castle, as well as to visit inside. The major change, from my previous visit, was that the Eisenhower Suite, a set of rooms given over to General Eisenhower during World War 2 had been removed from the castle. In fact the apartment he had is in the process of being recreated elsewhere at Culzean, but not inside the actual castle.
I took so many photos, starting in the grounds, that I will have to split them into many parts. The walled garden, in particlar, was very impressive and amongst the many plants is a huge collection of Dahlias, which you will see as I post the photos in the subsequent entries.
Culzean is another castle where photographer is not permitted, so the inside of the building must remain a mystery here. However I do recommend a visit any time you are likely to be in Scotland. I also suggest that you allocate a full day to enjoy everything.
