Dumfries House
Hopefully those who have been following this blog still have a little energy left. Not long to go now, until we reach the end. After Culzean Castle our next visit was to Dumfries House. Now this house has recently been saved after a huge effort, which involved Prince Charles. Referred to as The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay when in Scotland, rather than as The Prince of Wales. He was heavily involved in the work to save the house, and is Great Stewart of the trust which now administers it. When we visited there was a lot of work happening in the ground, building a new visitor and business centre. The house itself houses a large collection of Thomas Chippendale furniture, said to be 60 pieces. The house viewing is by guided tour and was very interesting, with an introductory video, by Prince Charles, explaining about the saving of the house and the ongoing work. Unfortunately not much opportunity for taking photos, so I shall only post one here. The friend who was touring with me also took some pics, so I may be able to add a few more later.
