After visiting the gardens we returned to the hotel for the evening and, fully rested, the next morning we drove to see Hopetoun House. It was commissioned by Charles Hope, the 1st Earl of Hopetoun over 300 years ago, and has been in the family ever since. http://www.hopetoun.co.uk/. It must be said that the outward facade is very impressive. I did try to take some panoramic photos, without much success. One must move the camera, in a very steady motion to achieve the pics. After several attempts I gave up.
